Young Frankenstein is a parody of the frankenstein movies. It was written by Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks. It is not as fast and frantic as a contemporary parody like "naked gun" but it a movie that grows on you. It offers now classic gags like the horses reacting to the house keeper's name. It also has a fair amount of sexual innuendo so it may not be suitable for younger kids without more explaining.
