1/24/21 Shutter Island

"Shutter Island" directed Martin Scorsese is a big budget Gothic Haunted House movie. The house in question is an asylum for insane. The protagonist is a detective named Teddy Daniels who has been sent there to investigate a murder. Even though some of the imagery can be predictable, I was satisfied by the over all theme of the movie. I felt psychotherapy was a cross roads and the Chief therapist played by Ben Kingsley was trying to direct to a more human course. Unfortunately, the self serving choice at the end of movie doomed psychotherapy to a path of electric shocks and lobotomies.
