"Breaker Morant" was one of the Australian that burst on to the scene in the 1980. It is a great bit of story telling where the frame of the story is a court-martial trial with flashback for the testimony. Like "Citizen Kane" a picture comes out of these disjoined stories.
I would say that is very good example of a really tightly made film. Nothing needs to be added and nothing can be taken away. Typically, the director, Bruce Beresford, came to America to become a maker of mediocre large budget movies. His most predictable, Driving Mrs Daisy won him an academy award.
