"The Hustler" is a 1956 movie about pool Paul Newman stars as Fast Eddie, a smalltime pool hustler who go up against the legend Minnesota Fats played by Jackie Gleason.
More accurately, the movie is about winning and losing. Pool is just a vehicle.
The two pool players styles are very different. Eddie is impetuous who plays by sheer talent. Minnesota Fats is cool and always in control. George C Scott plays the cynical promoter who does care about pool, just winning at all costs.
The experience of watching the movie is alittle grim but it is worth it for the pool and the performances.
