"Ben Hur" is one of the classic epics of the Hollywood golden age. Made the old fashion way with people not cgi. Reportedly, there were 10,000 extras on the film. I read that English actors were cast as the Romans and America actors were cast as the Jews. That seems like a real American centric view of the world.
It is famous for its chariot race which still holds interest. One feels the real action and one feels disdainful of that weak overlong race in Star Wars Episode One.
