Saboteur is one of Hitchcock's early american movies. It is his classic motive "the wrong man".
Barry Kane is accused of being a saboteur and has to chase the really criminals across the country.
Barry find that the "respectable" people of society are villains. They act like they are untouchable because no one is going to believe an accused saboteur.
Ironically, he find help and patriotism from the downtrodden citizen of the country. People who have not been given as much but are very loyal to the US. This was the tone Hitchcock wanted to convey since the movie was made on the verge of America joining the 2nd world war. You can see it in the Barry's speech.
Like his later movie, the main character ends up at an ionic American monument. This time it was the Statue of Liberty.
